February 2020: the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office organises a regional consultation meeting in Budapest with Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Romania, Poland, Slovenia (just governments).
16-04-2020: The new exception for the use of works in digital and cross-border teaching activities in Article 5 of the CDSM Directive is implemented as an emergency measure in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, via Decree 125/2020. The decree temporarily modifies the existing educational exception to cover the additional types of uses enabled by Article 5 of the CDSM Directive.

16-06-2020: The modifications to the education exception introduced via the emergency decree from 16-4-2020 are signed into permanent law as part of a larger bill that converts a large number of emergency decrees into permanent law (the articles dealing with the changes to the copyright act are §311-315).
18-02-2021: The Hungarian Justice Ministry launched a consultation on their third draft CDSM implementation proposal. Consultation deadline is 1 March 2021.
31-03-2021: The Hungarian Ministry of Justice introduced the implementation law proposal into parliament.
28-04-2021: The Hungarian Parliament (136 yes; 29 no and 1 abstained) accepted the bill to implement the CDSM and SatCab Directives:
